For their capstone project, 12 students from each STEM senior engineering class had the opportunity to work on building a plane. The plane we are building is an RV-12, a two seat plane. We are the third year of students working on the plane, and my class focused on building the wings. Each group also had a non-plane related focus; my focus was the website. For more information about Project Pegasus, please check out our website stemmarinplane.weebly.com.
Progress Reports
Throughout the year, we had to turn in progress reports detailing the work that we had completed.
Project Presentation Night
At the end of the year, all the groups got to present their capstone projects and we were able to present the work that we have done on the plane. We assembled the plane parts in the gym and also had a slideshow of pictures (which can be found on the Project Pegasus website above) and a presentation on an example of how we would build a part of the plane.
All the STEM students also received cords to wear at graduation and certificates of their accomplishments.
All of the students working on Project Pegasus also got the opportunity to go on a flight with some of our mentors in a plane similar to the one we are building.
